African Nations Can Overcome Underdevelopment - Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan said Thursday in Abuja that African nations must learn to manage their resources better if they wished to overcome poverty and underdevelopment. Speaking at an audience with
Pastor Chuck Pierce of Global Spheres International Church, President Jonathan said that in spite of current challenges, he was confident that African nations will achieve rapid development and progress if their governments and peoples make the right decisions and implement them.

Fake CNN Reporter Nabbed In Bayelsa
The State Security Service (SSS) has arrested a man identified as Paul Yempe over his false claim to be a Correspondent to the Cable News Network (CNN) in the Niger Delta region. He was apprehended by the state Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr. Tariyon Akono who handed him over to the Department of State Service (DSS).
According to the SSS, the fake CNN reporter was arrested with an Identification Card of the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation known as Radio Rivers and a fake Identification card of the CNN.

4 Remanded for Dumping Children in Stream

Four suspects who allegedly dumped two children in Dumi stream, in Bauchi Local Government Area has been remanded in police custody by the Bauchi State Chief Magistrate’s court. The four suspects including the parents of the children were arrested by the Police and arraigned in court.
It was reported recently that two children were dumped inside a stream by unknown persons in Bauchi. One of the children died while the other survived.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Amos Ukpe, had filed two separate cases over the incident.

My take on the Child Not Bride Movement


A few days ago, I signed a petition online [Change.org] to stop the marriage of underage girls in Nigeria. Just like most of you, I didn't read what I was signing against. I didn't know the details of this law, I only went with what I saw/read on facebook, twitter, bbm etc. So I went researching on this topic, just to become fully aware of this situation. Rivers crisis: Pres. Jonathan withdraws JTF soldiers, Armored cars from Gov's lodge?

That is what Sahara Reporters is reporting. According to SR, about 30 soldiers guarding the Governor's lodge have been summarily withdrawn by the Brigade Commander in charge of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Port Harcourt at the orders of President Goodluck Jonathan.

SaharaReporters also reports that the soldiers took with them two Armored Personnel Cars (APC) usually stationed at Government House.
 
military source allegedly told SR that the removal of the soldiers was ordered from Abuja. He warned that things might get bloodier in the state capital with the JTF gone from Government House leaving thesecurity of the governor and his aides in the hands of a few police officers and State Security Services agents.

World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) and Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) have dragged the President Goodluck Jonathan-led Federal Government to the United Nations Universal Periodic Review (UPR) expressing “serious concerns about the state pardon granted former Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha by President Goodluck Jonathan.”
