Woman Sues Husband Over Defamation

Woman Sues Husband Over Defamation

A woman, Charity Eze, 29, of Aso Pada in Mararaba, Nasarawa State on Friday sued her husband, Titus, 38, over alleged criminal intimidation and defamation of character. Eze, in her suit at a Grade 1
Area Court, Aso Pada, Mararaba, accused her husband of intimidation and telling people that she sleeps around with different men.

She told the court that on August 29, while she was inside the house, her husband locked her in and went away to an unknown destination.
Some hours later, she said, she called for help from her neighbours to help her break the padlock, because she wanted to ease herself.
“On his return later in the evening, he started intimidating me, saying that I do not stay at home and that I sleep around with men,” she said.
In his defence, Titus told the court that, “any time I come back from work, she is not always at home.
“She always claims to be having one programme or the other in church.
“Sometimes she even sleeps there; what type of church is that? From Monday to Sunday, church! Church!” he stressed.
He also told the court that he had told his in-laws about the wife’s behaviour, but they appeared not to take interest in making her change.
The presiding judge, Mr. Albert Maga, adjourned the case to September 5 for hearing.
