“Skyfall” Scores UK’s Biggest Opening Week Record

It used to be that “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2” reigned atop the box office record scoreboard, but “Skyfall” has sniped the wizard from his perch.

The latest James Bond installment had a killer week in the UK market, scoring a total of $59.9 million in sales over the past seven days.
Also impressive is the fact that “Skyfall” has already surpassed the $100 million mark in global ticket sales, especially given that it hasn’t opened in the US just yet.
Gary Barber, CEO of MGM, told press, "The continued record-breaking success of this film is a true testament to all involved and the global power of this 50 year old franchise."
