Adele’s 21 Scores Best-Selling Album In US For 2012

It was a massive accomplishment when her critically-acclaimed album 21 topped the US sales charts for 2011, and earlier this week Adele was notified that she did it again in 2012.

The “Rolling in the Deep” songstress beat out Taylor Swift’s Red (4.41 million to 3.11 million) to nab the title, following up a 2011 total of 5.82 million copies.
Billboard associate director Keith Caulfield declared, “It’s sort of a once-in-a-lifetime album. Only a few of these albums come along in history.”
"It's really the right combination of artistry and hit singles. She really crossed over from pop to Latin to adult contemporary to dance. Young and old consumers bought it, and because of its mixture of fans, she was able to sell it as well as she did."
With Swift claiming the #2 spot, her boyfriend’s band One Direction landed at #3 and #5 with Up All Night and Take Me Home (respectively), and Mumford & Sons secured the #4 rank with Babel.
