BREAKING NEWS: Tottenham midfielder Sandro out for the rest of the season with knee injury

Sandro Ranieri - Tottenham

The Brazilian has undergone surgery after damaging the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his right knee during Saturday's goalless draw with QPR at Loftus Road

Tottenham midfielder Sandro will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, the club have confirmed.

The Brazilian hobbled out of Saturday's goalless draw with QPR at Loftus Road, and scans have since revealed he has sustained damage to his anterior cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus in his right knee.
After consulting a specialist, Sandro has undergone surgery to repair the problem and will therefore miss the rest of the current campaign.

The setback is a blow to boss Andre Villas-Boas' top four aspirations, and could mean Spurs enter the transfer market for a new holding midfielder, or bring forward the proposed summer transfer of Lewis Holtby from Schalke.
